In the green land I found my peace
In the green land I found my luck
Maybe because I knew
That it wouldn't last forever
From time to time I recall
All the wet streets and the drizzling rain
And the white sheets in our little freedom
Sometimes I recall the white window
And the planes in the distance
Flying far away
You'd finish your job and drink a pint
If tomorrow was a day off you'd have another one
Then you'd bide your time till she comes from her work
And she'd make the world look much better
You'd save you some money to see more world
Then you'd travel 'cross the country her hand while you hold
You'd come home exhausted but that was a sweet toll
A new working day awaits you tomorrow
From time to time I recall
The narrow streets, the city lights
How we found our luck in the green land
Maybe cuz we knew it wouldn't last forever
